Happy New Year! Now that the rest of the world has caught up with the church calendar (that celebrates the new year beginning with the first week of Advent), many people are busy making resolutions. If you are not the resolution-making type, you have probably thought about how this year can be different or better than last year.
2017 has drawn to a close. For some, it was a joyous year filled with new life, new birth, and new chances. For others it was a year full of loss, tough decisions and heartache. For the rest of us, it was probably a mixed bag with some joy and some sadness, like most years (and days) are.
As we turn our eyes toward 2018, what are your hopes and dreams? What is it that wakes you up at night that you think needs doing? What are you willing to let go of so that you have the space and time to do that new thing? Where is God in all of that?
I wrote last month about all of the ways just in the past six months that our church has reached out to our community. It was quite a list! So many people helped with so many lives touched. That is what the church should be about! As we welcome in 2018, what are some new ways that we can reach out and be the arms and feet of Christ in this community? What are some tradi-tions that we would like to keep going? What are some things we are willing to let go of so that there is space and time for the new things that God is doing in our midst?
We have grown and changed together in 2017. I can’t wait to see what 2018 brings! I invite you to dream big dreams with Christ at the center of it all.
Peace to you,
